Family Answers offers a range of services to employers to ensure they have a healthy and productive workforce. These services include our Employee Assistance Programs and Critical Incident Stress Management.
Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) provide a full range of services to employee groups of all sizes: comprehensive confidential assessment, counseling and treatment planning, managed referral services, management consultation and training, employee seminars, mediation services, and crisis intervention.
You’re laid off. You suffer an accident at work. You’re a witness to workplace violence that results in injury to or the death of a coworker.
These and other critical incidents often cause victims or witnesses to experience feelings of grief, sadness, anger, and anxiety. Left unaddressed, these feelings can become overwhelming, resulting in clinical depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and impairment in work and family life.
Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) helps those experiencing loss and trauma. By offering support, education, and counseling, CISM staff can help individuals, groups, family members, and employees avoid a downward spiral of intensifying symptoms.
Critical Incident services are usually provided on-site within 24 to 48 hours following a traumatic event. Sometimes, an immediate response is needed to diffuse and relieve symptoms that otherwise would disable a victim indefinitely. The timing of a CISM response varies according to the situation and needs of victims.
On-site services may include individual and/or group counseling, consultation with management, and referral for follow up or ongoing counseling. Participants are educated re: normal and extra-normal symptoms and reactions. Counselors teach coping skills, review support systems, and can assess participants for more serious psychological reactions, with possible medical intervention, if needed.
Family Answers has trained, seasoned counselors on staff to provide Critical Incident Stress Management Services to groups, employees, and community members of the Lehigh Valley. At Family Answers, CISM counselors use the Mitchell Model of CISM, an internationally recognized system to effectively promote healing of trauma survivors. We are experienced in responding to workplace accidents, death, violence, downsizings and reorganizations.
